Privacy Policy

devbench (“we”, “us”) provides free, browser-based developer tools at devbench.tools. This policy explains what data we do and don't handle. The short version: everything you paste into a tool stays on your device, and the only optional data collection is anonymous analytics that never runs without your consent.

Your tool data never leaves your browser

Every tool — the JSON formatter, JWT decoder, regex tester, Base64 and URL encoders, converters and the rest — runs 100% client-side. The text you type, paste, or upload is processed entirely by JavaScript in your browser. It is never transmitted to us, never stored on a server, and never leaves your machine. There is no account, no sign-up, and no backend that receives your content.

What we store on your device

We use your browser's localStorage for a few small preferences. These are not sent to us:

• Theme — remembers your light/dark choice.
• Cookie consent — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we don't ask again.

Analytics (only with your consent)

If — and only if — you press Accept on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate, anonymous usage (which tools are popular, roughly how many visitors we get). Until you consent, the analytics script is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and process data including:

• Pages visited and referring links
• Approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address — Google anonymises IPs for GA4)
• Device, browser and screen information

This processing is carried out by Google as a third party. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses cookies. Our legal basis for this processing is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

Your choices & rights

You can grant or withdraw consent at any time using the control below — withdrawal is as easy as giving it. Under the GDPR and similar laws you also have the right to access, rectify, or erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we don't hold any personal data ourselves, most requests are satisfied by clearing your browser's cookies and local storage; for analytics data held by Google, contact Google or use their controls.

Our footer links to Bit Project and Buy Me a Coffee. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we don't control.

Children

devbench is a general-audience developer tool and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected in the banner where appropriate.
